What Vick has to say about the bike..

1.When was the first time you ever “threw a leg over the saddle”?
A.This has to be Somewhere in 1980 cant recollect the exact year but can so recall the first time when I started riding a Kinetic Honda. Those days the KH was every school boys desire. Perfect platform to begin the entry into the two wheeled world.

2.Describe the experience.
A.Up until then one could only imagine the feeling when you saw someone zip by. It definitely stirred something within me and I just had to get myself on two wheels. I’ve heard people talk about the feeling of Freedom and WIND in your Face. It was only when I was on it did I know how true that statement was!

3.When would you say you got “hooked” on to biking and why?
A.The minute I dismounted the Kinetic Honda, I knew that this is what I was born for. – Your either born a biker or not , its that simple. I’m lucky I was born to hold a handle bar!

4.What was your first bike?
A.My first 2 wheeler was a Kinetic Honda and my 1st Super Bike was a CBR 400 RR in the year 2000

5.Was it your choice or just what you could afford?
A.If it were my choice, Id be on a far more exotic machine. I did try in vain to convince my dad to buy me the exotic but dad’s are dads. Hence with pride I’ll have to say that the 400 was all I could afford.

6.What bike(s) do you ride now?
A.Yamaha R1 2010 , Ben Spies (Sterilgarda) Race Replica

7.Was it love at first sight or a product of long term research?
A.I’ve been closely associated with the biking Industry and that makes me a very discerning buyer. I’ve been through 7 Honda’s and 3 Suzuki’s in the last ten years. However I’ve never had the popular Yamaha R1. However it was only after they began using some serious MotoGP tech in their bikes that I got excited. The Cross Plane Crack shaft, which is straight of the M1 meant business. I knew that the time has come to now finally get my hands on one.

8.How many bikes have you gone through till the present one?
A.10 before this one

9.What modifications have you made to your stock bike?
A.Running a superbike store in Mumbai that stocks some amazing brands do come with its benefits. My bike is a customized as they come. Let me list them down.

Ben Spies Replica “Sterilgarda” Paint Job
Carrozzeria Forged Wheels
Galfer Brake Lines / Rotors & Pads
Vortex Rear Sets
Hotbodies Windscreen
Comp. Werkes Tail Tidy Kit with LED Indicators
Akrapovic Slip On Exhausts with Titanium Y pipe
Customised Pazzo Levers Shortys
OEM Seat Cowl
Dynojet PC 5 with Quick Shifter
Powerbronze Rear Hugger

10.Have these modifications helped/improved ride and handling of your bike?
A.I’d go mad if these mods did not live up to the investment I’ve made. It surely has made it into perhaps the quickest and lightest R1 in the country. I doubt if any other even comes close. However Its not wise to just increase bhp while leaving the brakes as stock. With the mods put in the bike not only hits 100 in no time it comes back to 0 in a very disciplined manner.

11.How long have you had the bike for and how many kilometers have you clocked.
A.This was the 1st 2010 R1 Yamaha India delivered to a customer in India ( The guys at Yamaha had taste :) ) and I got it in Jan 2010 and so far have done 4500 km on it.

12.How often do you ride – daily, fortnightly, monthly or just occasionally?
A.I ride the R1 once a week just to meet friends and hang out or a weekend ride out of town , otherwise most of my riding is reserved for the racetrack which we frequent once a month during season time from Dec to June.

13.What do you like most about your bike
A.With the Akrapovics on its very hard to ignore the sound and there is something about the 2010 R1’s look, It begins to grow on you you slowly and in the end you just fall in love with the way it looks. Also the fact that the bike is customized by me , makes it all me.

14.What don’t you like about your bike?
A.Oh well despite all the accessories thrown in to reduce the weight, she still is on the heavier side in comparison to the other litres around. That could be a little bit of a bother.

15.What has been your most memorable ride till date?
A.Undoubtedly California Superbike School in Jan 2011. It’s a must for everyone who would like to know what real riding is all about. We might assume that we know all that is to know about riding but a few days at the track under arguably the great superbike instructor will only prove how little we actually know.

16.What’s the maximum three digit figure you’ve seen on your speedo?
286 kmph

17.Who maintains your bike – cleaning, servicing, etc?
A.I get most of the work done in a friends garage. It’s a great time to socialize also :)

18.Have you faced any problems with your bike(s)?
A.None so far. Japs build their bikes very well

19.What fuel/oil do you use and why?
A.Fuel 97 Octane / Oil Motul Full Synthetic
20.Tell us about your riding gear (helmet, gloves and suits/jackets/pants and other protective gear)?

A. Its fairly exhaustive.. let me try listing them down
Helmet – HJC RPS 10 Ben Spies Ltd Edition and ARAI RX 7 2010 TT Limited Edition
Gloves – Joe Rocket Speedmaster 8:0
Suit – Joe Rocket Speedmaster 6:0 Suit
Jacket – Joe Rocket Radar Jacket
Pants – Joe Rocket Alter Ego 2:0 Pants
Boots – Sidi Vortice for the track and out of town and Sidi Streetburners for casual town rides

21.Is your riding gear effective?
A.Possibly the best that money can buy , all tried and tested by the best internationally

22.Are you looking at changing your bike any time soon?
A.Maybe

23.If yes, what bike would you consider and why?
A.Aprilia RSV 4 Factory because its small and fast and looks mean.

24.What’s does your ideal weekend look like?
A. ride out of town early in the morning and then time with the family

25.What tips do you have for aspiring riders looking to pick up a super sports bike?
A.Learn to Jump before you try to fly , start small and graduate upwards because sometimes our ego,s and adrenalin get the better of us and ALWAYS WEAR PROPER SAFETY GEAR WHEN YOU RIDE

What Cowboy has to say on his bike..

1.When was the first time you ever “threw a leg over the saddle”?
A.The first time was on the yamaha RX 100 – drove for about 2kms. There is something so enduring about the two stroke RX-100. It truly was an honour to learn biking on such an amazing machine – As far as my first superbike ride was concerned. – was in 99 in US on a Ninja. I have to admit, both the machines were truly cult rides.

2.Describe your experience.
A.The RX100 was my brothers bike. Now when you learn how to ride you tend to make some fundamental mistakes.. those led to some very tense moments. People call it wind in the hair experience, id say it was closer to balls in my mouth experience

3.When would you say you got “hooked” on to biking and why?
A.That would be on my 1st trip to US – all those machines – n I got a chance to see their biking group meet – I was in HEAVEN :D – from that moment I knew I wanted to own one and also ride together in a group. The USA is very advanced in their riding culture.

4.What was your first bike?
A.As far as Indian machine is concerned – my first bike was a humble Splendour. For SBK – a honda CB 400

5.Was it your choice or just what you could afford?
A.Neither – that was sent from Dubai by my mamu – n he said this is the best beginner bike – n he was so right. that bike should be in India. I'm sure it would do so well. Inline four experience. what more can you ask for.

6.What bike(s) do you ride now?
A.My latest machine is the 2011 Hayabusa.

7.Was it love at first sight or a product of long term research?
A.I would call it Love at first RIDE – 1 ride a fellow GODS members busa and I was floored – then the real research thing started happening.I'm not an extremely aggressive rider and the busa just seemed to be suited for that. Its got perhaps the most comfortable riding position for a superbike. Infact unless you're on one literally you'll never realise how comfortable the bike can be.

8.How many bikes have you gone through till the present one?
A.Ive had 4 bikes till date started with 1998 CBR 400RR, 2007 1000RR, 2009 Hayabusa, 2011 Hayabusa.

9.What modifications have you made to your stock bike?
A.As far as Performance modification – just got 2 bros – Aluminum end cans – they helped in three departments – looks, weight and sound. Also got forged Aluminum levers and few decals for the bike.

10.Have these modifications helped/improved ride and handling of your bike?
A.The exhausts have helped my getting the weight down plus there has been a slight increase in power as well.

11.How long have you had the bike for and how many kilometers have you clocked.
A. I got this bike on 23rd Mar this year, have clocked aprox 800 kms on the bike.

12.How often do you ride – daily, fortnightly, monthly or just occasionally?
A.Weekend is the only time when I get to lay my hands on the bike – wish I could ride more often. Our roads and traffic just refuse it to be an everyday bike, something a Busa can really be.

13.What do you like most about your bike.
A.Just about everything – the ride, the looks, the saddle for rider n pillion, the sound (now - after TBR exhaust) – the drive modes.

14.What don’t you like about your bike?
A.The weight. I'm not the biggest rider around and the busa can be a bit of a pain when it comes to handling her at slow speeds. Also you do think twice before throwing it into corners. :)

15.What has been your most memorable ride till date?
A.That would be my ride to Jaipur – my first long ride on a Sbk – loved every part of it – the road – the look on people’s faces when they saw 15 bikes zipping past em – looking forward to more such rides.

16.What’s the maximum three digit figure you’ve seen on your speedo?
A. I'm not much a fan of hitting incredible speeds but I touched 220kmph on my new bike.

17.Who maintains your bike – cleaning, servicing, etc?
A.For every bike that I’v had – I like to know whats exactly is inside – so I do try my hands on servicing the bike – I have a complete setup for the same. But for this one I have to get it serviced through a proper mechanic as its still under warranty
18.Have you faced any problems with your bike(s)?
A.None – be it this machine or any other machine that iv had in the past. (thank god for that )the Japs sure do build some very reliable machines

19.What fuel/oil do you use and why?
A.As far as fuel is concerned – I go in for recommended fuel – 97 octane or 93 octane with booster. For oil I’ll be going in for Motul - fully synthetic.

20.Tell us about your riding gear (helmet, gloves and suits/jackets/pants and other protective gear)?
A.For jackets – ive got 1 for every season – RS Taichi – Mesh for summers, Alpinestar textile – for rain and winters, Alpinestar GP – Leather for winters, and a full leather suit. For gloves – Alpinestars GP Plus and FLY thermal gloves,Boots – Alpinestar – Supertech. For helmet – I’ve got 3 (for now) – ICON, HJC n GMAC.

21.Is your riding gear effective?
A.Yes it is as all my jackets, pants, gloves have a built in protection. The helmets that I have are DOT certified.

22.Are you looking at changing your bike any time soon?
A.No plans to change this one but I've got some serious plans to add a few more to my family.

23.If yes, what bike would you consider and why?
A. my choices – in the same order – Speed Triple, CB 1000R, FZ1, Z750, Iron 883.If wishes were horses...

24. What tips do you have for aspiring riders looking to pick up a super sports bike?
A. Always start small – don’t go in for a Hayabusa as your first bike cuz you can afford to buy it. Most of our GODS members have moved up – that way you are matured in handling tricky situations.
B. Just cause you’ve got your hands on an SBK doesn’t make you immune or a super hero – sure you are in the lime light – people will push you to race with them in the busiest of intersections not to forget the risk which becomes ten folds – remember you want to enjoy biking for long – so have a cool head. RELAX – YOU’ll LIVE LONGER 

Fuel capacity: 16.50 litres (4.36 gallons)

What Rishab has to say about the bike..

1.What do you call your bike and why?
A.I call it "the fighter" – for its lean muscular look and aggressive stance

2.Is she your first bike? If not what did you own before this?
A.I've had a few before. Started with a Yamaha R1 – a "crazy crotch rocket". Then had a Hayabusa and a Kawasaki Ninja 14R at the same time. Both were awesome machines with amazing power. The Busa was more "litre-bike" like in its stance with incredible acceleration, while the 14R was more like a "sport-touring" bike with a butter smooth engine and jet-like pulling power once you got past the 4k mark on the tacho

3.Was it love at first sight or a product of long term research?
A.A bit of both. I fell in love with the the fighter the first time I laid eyes on it. At that time, I never thought I would own such a machine. Then Ducati came to India and the opportunity to own this crazy machine presented itself. Initially I was a bit apprehensive about the practicality of owning a Ducati and that too such an aggressive one , but a few hours spent on the internet allayed those concerns. The rest as they say is history….

4.Explain what went through your mind during the months before you managed to lay your hands on it?
A.Not much. The dealer had the bike on the show-room floor. Once I was convinced that I wanted to go for the fighter, we negotiated a good deal and I had the bike in my hands within 2 days.

5.First impression when you saw her all gleaming and polished.
A.Awesome……freaking awesome !!

6.How long have you had the bike for and how many kilometers have you clocked.
A.I've had it for about 4 months and done about 2800Kms on it thus far

7.What the best attribute of the bike
A.The fighter to me a great balance between incredible looks and amazing performance. That a single bike can do this, is a testimony to Ducati's design creativity and engineering prowess.

8.What’s irritates you most about the bike?
A.It has no wind protection, so at speeds above 160Km/h the wind blast put a lot of pressure on the rider. What further compounds the situation is that the bike gets to these speeds in the blink of an eye.

9.What part of the bike would you change and why?
A.I've made a few changes. Put on a Termignoni exhaust, primarily for the sound and better fueling (the Termis come with a remapped ECU and free flow air filter). Then I've added protectors for the radiator, oil-cooler and frame this helps keeping that area safe from pebbles on the road. Finally I've added a Ducati Performance (DP)Touring seat which is far more comfortable than the stock seat. I plan to add a DP fairing to it soon…to increase the wind protection somewhat.

10.What does your riding gear comprise of and which brand suits you the most?
A.I have a ton of gear (something my wife really beats me up for). Here are the highlights
• Jackets (mesh for summer and fully synthetic for winter) – Joe Rocket, Alpine Stars, Dianese, Rjays, Komine …all with shoulder, knee and back protection (in fact I also have a Joe Rocket back protector that I mostly wear below my Jacket for added safety)
• Pants – Joe Rocket and Rjays all weather riding pants (again with appropriate hip and knee protection)
• Boots – Alpine Stars, Joe Rocket and Puma
• Gloves – have a half dozen or so of various brands and colors
• Helmets – Shoei, Arai, AGV, Joe Rocket…and a few more (Including a bright orange Nolan helmet famously christened by the group as "The Santra")

11.If you’d cheat on your bike, with which would it be?
A.At this time, cant think of anything more tempting…but its still early days with the figher
12.Is she girlfriend material or long term wife material?
A.Probably a girlfriend that could eventually become a wife 

13.Do you believe in cosmetic customization, If yes then what have you done on it?
A.I've done a bit. Added a carbon fibre tank guard, upgraded my mirrors to some nice looking ones from DP and have a few other cosmetic mods in mind that I will execute over time.

14.What according to you is the best mod to extract a little more bhp? What accessories did you spend your money on?
A.The best mod is to put on a full system exhaust complete with free-flow air filter and a fueling remap. The other modification that changes the power delivery could be the sprocketing….but that’s uncharted territory for me

15.Is she high on maintenance? Have you run into any electrical/mechanical issues?
A.So far not. Touch wood !

16.What do you feed her? (what oil what petrol?)
A.Oil – Mobile 1. Pertrol – 97 Octane

17.Tell me about the day she made you feel like a superstar!
A.She does not make me feel like a superstar but brings out the biker in me better than any other bike I have previously owned. She is a demanding machine…extremely responsive on both the throttle and braking with incredible handling…so you need to be constantly doing the right thing to enjoy her fully and safely – that’s what I love most about the fighter.

18.What does your wife/girl friend think about her?
A.My wife loves the fighter too…..she's been a great supporter of my riding passion !!

19.Do you service it on your own? Or trust the mechanic at the service center?
A.I prefer to take it to the Ducati service shop

20.What’s the maximum three digit figure you’ve seen on the Speedo?
A.About 220 Km/h

A.Intruder is my third bike & second Superbike. I had Suzuki Shogun in 90’s then I took Yamaha MT01 in 2008 & in 2010 I bought Suzuki Intruder.

3.Was it love at first sight or a product of long term research?
A.It was indeed a product of my “Love at First Sight” when I read about Suzuki launcing two superbikes Hayabusa & Intruder in December 2008. It was just one month after I had purchased my yamaha MT01. I had give my self some time to accommodate the first superbike MT01 in my family before introducing them to the second one.

4.Explain what went through your mind during the months before you managed to lay your hands on it?
A.None in my family knew much on my intentions for getting yet another SuperMachine under me. So I was bit nervous for their reactions when ever they would learn about it. As the bike was well stocked in Suzuki’s Gurgaon warehouse, I just had to wait for three days for initial bank formalities to get over & then to Crown my self on it. Yes the wait was well settled by loads surfing of video/writeup on Suzuki Intruder on the internet !

5.First impression when you saw her all gleaming and polished.
A.Oh My God its really BIG … “Size Does Matter”

6.How long have you had the bike for and how many kilometers have you clocked.
A.Its around One year & i have done approx 9,000 kilometers

7.What the best attribute of the bike
A.The curves at the right places ;o)

A.The unwanted glares & attention it gets from the passersby because of its sheer size, design, the roar & rumble when I am riding it around places.

9.What part of the bike would you change and why?
A.Undoubtedly as most of Superbikers - The Exhaust after the warranty period is over

10.What does your riding gear comprise of and which brand suits you the most?
A.Alpinestars for riding gear namely Summer & Winter riding protection jacket, Gloves, Shoes. Helmets from AGV & M2R. I do look forward to buy an Arai or a Shoei

11.If you’d cheat on your bike, with which would it be?
A.Nothing can beat it yet in styling & performance but yes given a chance I might like Triumph Rocket III

12.Is she girlfriend material or long term wife material?
A.Well, I found my best half about a decade ago & am happily married to her now but yes am open to the long list of girlfriends from Suzuki, Yamaha, Harley, Victory etc.

13.Do you believe in cosmetic customization, If yes then what have you done on it?
A.Yes but without compromising any safety on bike & just to add comfort. I had installed Windshield, Saddle Bags, Rider’s back support etc.

14.What according to you is the best mod to extract a little more bhp? What accessories did you spend your money on?
A.As I said earlier nothing much before or within the warranty period. Post that I plan for K&N filters, Exhausts & other performance relevant accessories

15.Is she high on maintenance? Have you run into any electrical/mechanical issues?
A.These machines arent your daily running bikes. The are my passion & passion has no price ticket to it. What ever it take to maintain the machine is part & parcel of maintaining my supreme riding pleasure. Touchwood !

What Naval says about his bike..

1. What do you call your bike and why?
a. At times I call her Crotch Rocket, with the kind of power between your legs, feels phenomenal and at times plain ‘Busa’.

2. Is she your first bike? If not what did you own before this?
a. Yes, shes my first ‘Superbike’, before this I had my share of Indian bikes, starting with a hero puch when I was very young, then pulsar 180 dtsi, karizma, RD 350, had an amazing time with the power this machine had at our disposal,a stepping stone to busa, and then a Karizma ZMR (currently owned along with busa).

3. Was it love at first sight or a product of long term research?
a. I would not deny that R1 was my first love till they launched the 09 model, which just made things more clear to me and Hayabusa which was my second fav become my most fav bike. I took my sweet time to compare all options available, but I knew if its not R1 its Busa, Her best attributes that I could find out were her comfort, her top speed, power, looks and off course her popularity and weight was the only concern but I settled with this one. I did realize that all machines had their own charm and none of the bikes I was comparing were a BAD bike, it all depends on what you want out of it.

4. Explain what went through your mind during the months before you managed to lay your hands on it?
a. It was years of dreaming, months would be too lil to mention here :P the craze to own one started seriously developing back in 1995, dad had gone to Japan and brought back Suzuki’s brochures n there I was in love with the TL1000S  then on I would search for pics, watch movies, clips, then started looking for bikers in Bombay who actually owned a superbike but I could really find many. With my exponentially growing craze for bikes, my parents thought me n my bro were crazy, then a friend finally brought a CBR 919, I started dreaming more, then he upgraded onto a blackbird and finally an 06 Busa. I was totally in lust/love with her. My (mine n my bro’s) dream finally started taking shape when I finally moved to Delhi to re-unite with the whole family, earlier we all were staying in different cities. After months of day dreaming and persuading our parents, one fine day we got our dad’s Nod with mom’s help off course. We started looking for a gray mkt bike, but the DRI n stuff made it all the more difficult for us to go ahead with our plan. With lil knowledge about Gray mkt scene, we were way too paranoid to put our savings in it. Finally went to the bitto’s showroom and saw the golden beauty and white was there too! Golden was our choice but finances got in our way, took a few days to decide n then finally managed to book it, it was to be delivered in about 5 days, we asked for delivery on 13th Jan 10, Lohri! Sleepless nights had begun, and there was a worry in our head, how to control the beast, a heavy, way too powerful than any other machine we’ve ever ridden. We even decided once to get it delivered at home, worrying too much about riding it thru the traffic. :P the day we got her home, sleepless nights worsened, I couldn’t sleep waiting to take her out for a spin in the morning and so began the superbiker’s life. 

5. First impression when you saw her all gleaming and polished.
a. Well I’ll start off with how I felt when I was on my way to check her out in the Cage, a day before I was to take her delivery, I was about to reach bittoo Suzuki, and was driving on the opposite side (petrol pump side) I slowed down, and tried to catch a glimpse of what I thought should be the crate in which she rests waiting for me, I just can never forget those few seconds, cause I was experiencing goose bumps and silent tears rolling down my face, from sheer joy of looking at just the crate (No exaggeration here). We reached n I just went over to the mechanic there, who by now knew who I was and what I was there for, he gave me an affirmation looking at the crate indicating, “yes, that’s your busa right there”, I hurried to the crate, I was numb, I just opened the lid and saw her, felt a tingle down my spine. Following half an hour went by in taking her out of the crate and there she was, shining right into my eyes. I was glowing like a flood lamp! 

6. How long have you had the bike for and how many kilometers have you clocked.
a. We’ve been engaged for more den an year now, and have done over 9000kms .

7. What the best attribute of the bike
a. I love almost everything about her, her looks, comfort, power/torque available at slight twist of the throttle, etc, and after riding it for a considerable mileage I feel her best attribute is her ability to give you the confidence at really high speeds which I found lacking in much lighter litre class bikes, assuming you’re a sensible rider, it’s her best attribute, but could be a different story altogether if you’re not sensible enough.

8. What’s irritates you most about the bike?
a. Nothing really, I just wish she could be a lil lighter and still be that rock steady at high speeds!

9. What part of the bike would you change and why?
a. I’d just like add a bit of custom parts like, handle bar ends, the front fender (mudguard), rear sets, and most importantly an exhaust, I don’t believe in core performance upgrades just to boost bhp, since I can’t even completely utilize the power produced by the stock itself.

10. What does your riding gear comprise of and which brand suits you the most?
a. I wouldn’t compromise on safety, hence bot an AGV Helmet, then Jacket, gloves
and Boots are all Alpinestars!

11. If you’d cheat on your bike, with which would it be?
a. S1000RR but that would rather be two timing, I don’t plan to part with her.

12. Is she girlfriend material or long term wife material?
a. Absolutely long term wife material.

13. Do you believe in cosmetic customization, If yes then what have you done on it?
a. Yes I do believe in cosmetic customization to some extent, its more about making your bike more personal and

14. What according to you is the best mod to extract a little more bhp? What accessories did you spend your money on?
a. A good aftermarket freeflow exhaust paired with a race air filter like K&N, BMC,etc would let u squeeze out a few extra horses, and if you want the popping to go away then plug in a Power Commander, but then again, I personally would not bother spending so much for a few extra horses unless I’d put them to good use, like on a track. As of now iv settled with a Two brothers Racing exhaust and planning to spend some on cosmetic upgrades like handle bar ends, double bubble, some carbon fiber trims and front mudguard.

15. Is she high on maintenance? Have you run into any electrical/mechanical issues?
a. Not really, a general service, every 4K Kms costs around 6K which includes Oil change, oil filter, checklist inspection and a labor charge of about 1500 bucks.

16. What do you feed her? (what oil what petrol?)
a. I’v been feeding her the Suzuki Motor oil that the Suzuki Japan supplies and I stick to 97 Octane for fuel.

17. Tell me about the day she made you feel like a superstar!
a. The moment I put my leg around her and turn the ignition I feel like a superstar!

18. What does your wife/girl friend think about her?
a. Not Applicable since I dun have either of them :P, but the most important female in my life, my mom feels that I should rather spend that much time on a girl then her! :P

19. Do you service it on your own? Or trust the mechanic at the service center?
a. I trust my regular mechanic completely, he does the job with that extra care, and also doesn’t mind my nagging if I try and correct his way of doing something. However I enjoy servicing the air filter, chain, sprockets and also wash/wax her almost every month.

20. What’s the maximum three digit figure you’ve seen on the Speedo?
a. A sensitive question, but I’ll confess having done 265+kmph once, though I did it for a few seconds but I still feel that such speeds shall be left to the track or to be tried in a controlled environment, since this is the land of kama, people/cattle/admin know hundreds of way to F*** u (copied from a joke, but found it relevant :P).

1. When was the first time you ever “threw a leg over the saddle”?
Ans- On a bike I rode with my uncle on his Triumph Speed Twin in 1970’s , may be I was just 6 or 7 years old. But First time I started riding was in 1982 on a Royal Enfield Bullet of 1967 vintage.

3. When would you say you got “hooked” on to biking and why?
Ans- Got hooked in late 1970’s as a young boy in Europe. May be because it is a freedom machine, it is very mechanical, speed, design and the styling , mystic and aura associated with biking, association of biking with the rocker lifestyle. The leathers, customization, the cool and the drool factor associated with bikes.

4. What was your first bike?
Ans- Was the Royal Enfield 1967 model.

5. Was it your choice or just what you could afford?
Ans- That was the coolest available at that time.

6. What bike(s) do you ride now?
Ans- HD Night Rod / HD Ultra Classic / HD Street Glide , Yamaha R1.

7. Was it love at first sight or a product of long term research?
Ans- I've always been very closely attached to bikes. I began my career with Royal Enfield, then worked with Honda/Yamaha and now with Harley-Davidson. Hence its hard to fall in love at first sight as one gets habituated to look at a bike from a purely objective perspective. though there are many times my heart just falls for the bike. thats the real biker in me trying to come out. As far as the R1 is concerned the decision was made from the time I was part of the team that worked on the R1. So it has to be real long time research.

8. How many bikes have you gone through till the present one?
Ans- 9 bikes.( Bullet / Rx-100 / RD-350 /05 R6 / 06 R6 / TDM-900 / XJR-1300 / 05 R1/ 2010 R1 )

9. What modifications have you made to your stock bike?
Ans- Exhaust / Air filter / Carbon parts/ Engine treatment / Graphics.

12. How often do you ride – daily, fortnightly, monthly or just occasionally?
Ans- Once a week what ever happens

13. What do you like most about your bike

Ans- Moto GP Pedigree / Heritage / Technology , design / styling / Performance / I was associated with its development.

14. What don’t you like about your bike?
Ans- Since I worked on building this bike I can never not like anything about it :)

15. What has been your most memorable ride till date?
Ans- having been associated with Yamaha and Harley-Davidson I've been fortunate to have ridden on some of the best tracks/roads.Sturgis in 2010 riding a CVO , Venus lines ( Japan ) on Yamaha bikes. ( R1 / TDM/ V Max / XJR. )in 2007, riding the 2006 M1 on the Sugo race circuit in 2007 , riding on CBR 954 at nurburgring circuit in Germany in 2004.

16. What’s the maximum three digit figure you’ve seen on your speedo?
Ans- 311 km/h on a race spec R1 at sugo race circuit in Japan.

17. Who maintains your bike – cleaning, servicing, etc?
Ans- I've been around Big bikes for a while now and I usually do all the work by myself

18. Have you faced any problems with your bike(s)?
Ans- Chain cam noise , but solved it after changing to fully synthetic oil.

19. What fuel/oil do you use and why?
Ans- 97 octane , oil is fully synthetic – 15w-50

20. Tell us about your riding gear (helmet, gloves and suits/jackets/pants and other protective gear)?
Ans- Yamaha jacket / TS Taichi pants / Alpinestar gloves / Hydo jacket /Shoe helmets.

21. Is your riding gear effective?
Ans- very very effective

22. Are you looking at changing your bike any time soon?
Ans- Well being with H-D comes with the benefit of riding any of their 14 bikes any time I wish. While the R1 is very different from then H-D. Hence all the bikes dont really make me want change over to another bike just yet. But to be honest the 796 monster would have been a great city ride to have.:)

23. If yes, what bike would you consider and why?
Ans- The monster maybe..

24. What’s does your ideal weekend look like?
Ans- Ride on a race circuit or a ride on a HD bike on open roads, mountain rides on HD bike. Since the Center of Gravity is really low on H-D they are a joy on twisty roads.

25. What tips do you have for aspiring riders looking to pick up a super sports bike?
Ans- Ride safe the bike can kill you , don’t show off, 100 to 0 is more important that 0 to 100.
Follow rules, public road is not a race circuit. Learn to ride on smaller bikes first.
